Prayer and Spiritual Guidance

Prayer is an important part of our lives as Christians. Prayer is the way that we can talk with God. It enables us to communicate with him on a very personal level and through prayer we can develop a relationship with God.

Through prayer we can:

Praise God - Say thank you to God
Simply talk to God - Ask for God's help
Seek God's guidance for our lives
Gain the strength we need to get through tough times

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4: 6-7)

If you would like to spend some time in prayer but need some suggestions, feel free to use any of the suggested prayers shown on the following pages. You may wish to use your own words or simply use silence. Whatever approach we use God will listen and wants to hear from you.

Draw near to God, and God will draw near to you (James 4.8)

Jesus encouraged his disciples to pray and to share in praying together with others. Do you have something or somebody who you would like us to remember in our prayers?

Would you like us to respond to a personal situation by praying for you?

Perhaps we can offer helpful support in times of need or enable you to share a burden. Send us an e-mail with your prayer request from the link below. Your message will be delivered confidentially to the personal mail of one of our ordained ministers.

EVERYTHING BEFORE GOD - GOD BEFORE EVERYTHING

The Methodist Church has recently launched a new website to encourage churches and individuals to focus on prayer over the coming months.

This follows an initiative by the Church’s young people, who have called on the whole church to promote a year of non-stop prayer.

It is called "Pray Without Ceasing"
